Steam On The Met. is a hopefully annual event hosted by London Underground on the Watford branch of the Metropolitan Line,
using up to three steam locomotives assisted by vintage electrical traction.
A free heritage bus service operates from outside Rickmansworth Station through the town to the
Rickmansworth Canal Festival usually held on the same weekends in May
For 1996 the heritage bus service was operated by :-
WLT938 {RM938}
former London Transport AEC Routemaster type 8/5RM5/8 new in Nov 1961 with Park Royal H64R body. The bus currently having the identity of RM938 is body number B790. Bought for preservation and later resold into service with Reading Mainline.
SMK760F {RML2760}
former London Transport AEC Routemaster type 1/7RM7/2 new in Feb 1968 with Park Royal H72R body. Numerically the last Routemaster built for London Transport, privatised to Stagecoach East London in Sept 1994 and kept fully original with AEC engine and unrefurbished interior.
KYY628 {RT1790}
former London Transport AEC Regent III when new had Park Royal H30/26R RT8 type body. Now operated by Memory Lane and kept fully certified for PCV use..
DEK3D
former Wigan Corporation fleet number 140 this 1966 Leyland Titan PD2/37 with Massey H41/31F bodywork is privately owned and a regular rally attendee.
